If you haven't heard yet...Baseball has begun!  Pitchers and Catchers have begun to report kicking off the start of Spring Training!  I'm rooting for my Phillies to make it big this year!  With the additions of Freddy Garcia and Adam Eaton - and the resigning of Jamie Moyer, I'm hoping the pitching staff can hold their own this year.  Jon Lieber is still on the roster and even reported this week, but most are expecting he'll be traded soon enough.  If Ryan Howard can repeat what he did last year...watch out!

Since I'm not a Basketball or Hockey fan...I'm counting down to April!  Go Phils!!

Hi Ravi, I'm a lifelong Red Sox fan and our pitching has been bolstered this year by the signing of Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka. Hopefully Curt Shilling will be healthy and Josh Beckett can come around and be the pitcher we all thought he could be. I guess our closer will still be Jonathan Papelbon. Two other big keys will be if Matt Clement and Tim Wakefield can come through too.

Another test will be Ortiz and Ramirez and they need a strong bat in the 5th spot looks like J.D. Drew. Hopefully Manny can put up good numbers again and won't be a head case. Go Red Sox!

Jay - for the amount of money they spent to get Matsuzaka...you better hope he bolsters the staff and doesn't cause a media circus that distracts the team!

Do you all think Ryan Howard will have another monster year? If he does he cant put up Barry Bonds type teams.

Come on Jeff you cant have a 2nd favorite team!!! stick to one team!!!! :)

Of course Ryan can...but like every season for a Philadelphia fan, something will happen to land him on the DL!  But I have to stay positive!

Eddy...  I also believe he can have another monster year. He is actually pure talent...  Utley is a stud.....  and as Ravi said, they have a good pitching staff.

But yes, I believe he will be just as good.... he's mature for his age... and learned a lot last year at the end of the season when he was being pitched around or intentionally walked..

And yes, I can have 2 teams...  two different leagues... and I have been a fan of both for over 30 years... and with the Red Sox winning the World series several years ago....  at least I was able to be happy one year. Maybe Philly can make me happy this year.

Who do you think will emerge from both leagues this year as a surprise?

RYan Howard does have the tools to be a great one.

In the AL i think the Cleveland Indians can make some noise. In the NL the Arizona Diamondbacks if Randy Johnson can be dominant like he once was.

I think Randy still has the stuff to be dominant - I just don't think he can still do it consistently...but that's why they play the games right...I guess we'll find out!

Did someone mention Baseball? Here my 2 cents. GO CUBS! Cubs have spent around 300 Mill in the off season. I still will watch to see if all that money brings a long needed Championship. The question is the pitching (Of Course). Prior and Wood well are questionable. Good Luck to All the Baseball Fans out there.

Randy might have it... but I think age is getting the better of him, especially after last year.

I think Randy will have at least have a .500 record. The NL West is going to be tough this year.

Big phils fan here too!

If the phillies can find a decent closer, they have a chance. I dont think flash Gordon will last all season. He is already seeing the doctors . Watch out for Ryan Howard and Chase Utley though, the youth on this team will make it happen.

Ryan Howard should have another huge year but they are going to pitch to him a little more carefully

If the Phils can get a good utility player....  catching goes well....  the rotation does very well....  third base starts off good....  and yes, Flash Gordon does well.... yes, they will be in the playoff's.....  Big Phils Fan here...

Chase Utley needs to have a monster if the Phils cant acquire the utlity player they need.

At best they can win the wild card.
