Your Relationship With Your Realtor
Cindy..Such a great post. I have been in real estate for 32 years and have formed many long lasting relationships with the Buyers and Sellers that I have worked with over the years,
They can count on me and I can count of them..
Your Relationship with Your Realtor– You’ve probably never given much thought to your relationship with your Realtor. But I spend my days with buyers and sellers…or at least those thinking about doing a transaction!
With over 11 years of real estate behind me, I still marvel at all the different relationships I’ve had with my clients. With some,, I take on a mentor/teacher role – particularly with young first time buyers. It is my job to educate each step of the way what is happening and why. After all, they never taught high school students or college students for that matter, some of the practical things in life – like buying a home.
With others, I take on the role of friend/guide/sounding board. This is increasingly common when dealing with a single person. We work collaboratively as a team, bouncing ideas off of one another – collectively creating ideas and solutions as we go.
The last clear role I’ve identified is that of a glorified customer service representative. Here, the principal has their own ways of doing things and really doesn’t want my input. I do my best to share when I can, but basically leave the transaction in the hands of the buyer or seller.
When thinking about an upcoming real estate transaction, I encourage you to think about the role you want YOUR agent to play and communicate that clearly. By doing so at the start of a transaction, you may eliminate a lot of hassles and misunderstandings down the road.
