How Would You Manage if You Had Only One Hand?

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

What would you do if you could not type but had to write a blog? Or answer a text message or send an email? That is the situation I find myself facing in a few hours. In a few hours, I will be left with one hand. I'm not really sure where the other hand is going but it will not be in use for at least 5 to 6 weeks. Somehow, I will get through this because millions of other people manage to survive this sort of thing, and I can not be an exception.

People still function, and they go to work. I will probably love working even more because it will give me something else to focus on than thinking about the loss of my hand nor my arm. I've been practicing. But that is the sort of thing I would do. Always be prepared.

Wow.    This will take quite an adjustment, Elizabeth.    I think there are Windows software applications to help disabled people by converting voice into typing.

If you have a later version apple smart phone there's a little microphone icon down by the space bar for texting...it allows you to speak what you want to text.

Good luck and heal quickly!

Elizabeth - I hope you quickly mend!  That being said, you will get little sympathy from me about that one armed or one hand thing.  After all, I've seen you handle chopsticks, while eating and while texting with your other hand at the same time.  You may not be able to eat and text simultaneously with just one hand, but you'll get over it. . .LOL

You'll be surprised by what one can accomplish with just one hand.  I don't believe it will slow you down one bit.

M.C. Dwyer My Apple laptop has built in voice recognition too. Dragon works on Macs, and it's revised edition is pretty good.

Myrl Jeffcoat I could so eat with one hand and text simulataneously if I put my face into the bowl just like a dog.

James Dray I am completely right-handed and my left hand is generally more a supporting character.

Only an Elizabeth Weintraub post would leave me thinking about how I put on mascara.   I only use my left hand to hold the tube.  I guess I'd have to hold it between my teeth.
