Training - Do it ahead of time !

Sandpoint Fire CrewAs I was heading to a listing appointment in Sandpoint yesterday I noticed a group of Firemen grouped at a station.  Curious I turned around.  Cars had been stacked to represent a serious accident.  They were training for what hopefully they will never come to deal with.  We expect proficency from professions such as firemen.  It also made me get to wondering how many people wait till it is already needed before they train.

Northside Sandpoint Fire TruckI believe sports relate to so many life instances.  How many times have you heard one of the greats talk about the years of training he/she did prior to actually being at the playing level that needed that type of focus.  The point is they were able to step up to the position, at a moments notice in some cases, because they had been training ahead of time.

I would hate to be trapped in a car and have the first responder on the phone asking for help or pulling out a manual.  I want them there, in the moment, and confident.  That only comes with training and education.

What are you preparing yourself for?  Do you have a goal for larger gross over the next years?  If so what are you doing to prepare yourself for that upward movement?  Don't think you will learn it when it gets here.  You will miss the opportunity if it comes at all.  Training - Do it ahead of time !

That is why so many agents role play doing listing presentations and handling objections.

Congrats on the feature Mark.

I'd hate the first responder to be on the phone or reading the manual if he/she was trying to help me out.

When I read your title, I laughed.  I've got to get my Education hours done before my renewal which is coming at the end of February...this is cutting training too close for comfort.

Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint practice before presentation is the key - and perhaps the main difference between the successful and not-so-successful agents.

Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint - Well done! I have numerous annual training requirements to maintain my licenses. I complain (privately of course). Then i realize the value this training brings so i am ready.

Cheers!

Excellent, excellent.

Training is the key to success in just about anything we seek to do.

Getting better at what we do always requires training and practice.  Training first so we don't practice incorrect procedures.

Licensure for real estate practice requires a lifetime of training/education.

I take my kids to karate a few days a week. It's not just physical training that they get, every month there is also a lesson taught. This months lesson has been about "self discipline" which is basically training. One of the nights, the instructor gave the students the following formula that I wrote down as soon as I heard it because it is awesome...

The Formula for Success... Talent + Self Discipline = Success.

Good morning Pete X with X Group Real Estate Advocates, Huntington Beach, CA 714.459.2017 OCLister.com , Joe Petrowsky , Laura Cerrano , Nicole Doty - Gilbert Real Estate Expert ,  I am sure we are all familiar with the agents that wait to the last month or even week for getting their CE and Core work done.  I wonder just how much they really are doing to protect their clients.

Debbie Reynolds isn't that the truth !  Debbie Gartner , umph retraining there is something often overlooked.  Good job.  Kat Palmiotti why is it I think you could have used 'overkill'  and yes I do agree to have the tool and never need it is much better than the alternative.  Kathleen Daniels too darn funny.  I went back and reread to be sure that is what I saw before I got to your next line.  Thanks for the chuckle.

Kevin Mackessy , , Russ Ravary, Sybil Campbell  thank you for stopping by.  It seems, at least with Rainers, everyone is aware of how important education and training are.  Make it a great week.  Mark

Claude Labbe I am here with foot in mouth.  Made a comment earlier about agents waiting till the last minute to complete CE.  Certainly was not pointed at you.  Did not know this was featured till you mentioned it.  There is a nasty bug going around that put me in bed yesterday with a fever so bad my eyelids hurt.  Glad it is only 24 hour shot and it broke earlier this morning.  Claude get after that training a little earlier next time.  lol    Make it a great week.  Mark

Praful Thakkar , Joan Whitebook , Thomas F. Scanlon , Richard Robibero, ABR, SRS , I agree with you all.   Training, although we are sometimes reluctant, is so important.  We never know when just one little nugget of information may save us and our clients heartache.  Make it a great week.  Mark

Lenn Harley that is so true.  A life time of learning.  And is that not what should be practiced in our personal lives too?  Well stated Lenn.  Make it a great week.

Jason Potrzeba sounds like you have your kids at an excellent Karate Studio.  Learning the mental along with the physical.  A perfect match.  Mark

My first job was in a restaurant, and so, everything has to come out of the kitchen at the same time, thus everything is done at the last minute to ensure proper timing.  That was high school.

College papers & exams....same way.

Am I surprised then that I've carried those behaviors into the realtor model?  I shouldn't be.

LOL Bob Crane .  And I suspect that no one questions your desire for them to stay on the learning page.  I think now more than ever it is so important with changes and new information coming out so quickly.  It is almost like we just want to be "less" behind because we pretty much know new today is gone next month.  Thank you for stopping by.  Mark

Excellent advice Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint .  Of course, practice makes perfect. I usually have double the amount of CE credits needed for renewal, but with technology constantly changing, it helps to be in the know.

Impressive Bette Gottwald ! Double the credits.  I may? do that much although not always as a CE credited class.  Just finished an eight week, one day a week, class that had no CE credits.  One of the most important classes I take.  Mark
