You have just proven that you REALLY ARE an idiot

How many times have we gotten an email and when you read it you wonder " How does this person make it in today's world "?

Here is a list of things that people put in an email (or say) that proves to me that they really are an idiot.

1.  "With that being said" - this has got to be the dumbest way to start a sentence. I think people think it's cool to start a sentence off with this phrase. But what does it really mean ? I said it now so I can move on to the next topic ? Ok....we know that ! Don't be an idiot and write this - if you do write this then you have proven that you are an idiot!

2. "Value Proposition" - really ? What does that mean ? Do you even know what this means when you wrote it ? What's the value and to whom is a valuable ? And....what is your proposition ? This is almost a borderline oxymoron. Say this to me or put this in an email and I can guarantee you - INSTANT DELETE.

3. Wrong name - this one will get an instant delete or a hang up. My first name is Robert. My last name is Russell. What iritates me is when people who suck at details will call me by my last name or email me by using Russell as the salutation. Maybe you will use the excuse that you were in the military and that's what you are used to addressing people with. HERE IS A NEWS FLASH - you ain't in the military any longer! Pay attention to details because if I get an email from you, then you have just assured me that you will miss something very important if I do business with you.

Do you have any phrases that drive you crazy ? Add them to this list! ( and....don't be an idiot!)

Brenda, me thinks most people apparently "don't" think with their heads :)

Robert, there are lots of phrases like this that will get a quick hang-up from me.

Oh Yes!!!  I get so many people that respond to an email from me and address me as BRENDA.  Really????  Why can't people simply read.  Many times these are people wanting something from me - like title companies or lenders.  Do they really think I would engage them if they can't even get my name right?  With that being said.......  lol

what I really love is when you send out for a referral on facebook and the receiving realtor responds with the wrong name.....I'm thinking - if you cant pay attention to that small of a detail - how bad are you going to screw up the deal with my referral?

Robert, in my first brokerages, they taught agents to make a "value proposition", It seems to be a popular phrase in sales circles, personally, I thought it sounded a bit pompous.  In writing, I don't like when people don't use words in their proper form, for example thru instead of through.

LOL, "with that being said".  I rank that alongside, "But the point of the matter is" and "it is what it is".

Or my most un-favorite, "no problem".  Who said there was a problem?  Why the double-negative?

Fred - No Problem should have been #1 on my list. When did "No Problem" replace "You're welcome" ? And what exactly does that mean if I say thank you and a person responds with "no problem" - another IDIOTIC reply! Thanks for raising my blood pressure!!

A new one - Realtors who spell it: Relator

Are you serious ? Are you really going to do that? Have you lost your mind ? Do you not know what spell check is ?

Texting and Facebook has made us all a bit lazy.  Formal writing has gone away.

Also it is not cute add a smiley face at the end of  business e mail.
