First Landing State Park

Virginia Beach has a Master Jet Base called Oceana Naval Jet Base in the middle of the city.  Go figure.  Well down the road a bit is a piece of quiet serenity that is just outside Ft Story, which is an operating army base.  On your next visit come and check this place out.  Don't worry if it is the 60's outside because a half mile or so inside the park it warms a 10 to 15 degrees in its own little micro climate. 

First Landing State Park is located near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay close to the spot where Captain John Smith landed in 1607 on his way to establishing the first permanent English settlement at Jamestown. With beaches along the Bay, First Landing is Virginia's most popular state park, attracting over a million visitors each year. Originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, the park is a wonderful asset to the city.
