We were enjoying a visit with our soon to be four year old grandson Jack a few days ago and he said, "Grandma I want to go see the monkeys again" and I said, "no problem Jack so do I".
Last year we took Jack to the Bronx Zoo which is located in the Bronx which is a borough of New York City. It is among the largest metropolitan zoos in the world, and is the largest in North America, with some 4,000 animals.
The Bronx Zoo is a solid hour car ride from our home but so worth the drive.
The Bronx Zoo was opened November 8, 1899. It is open from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM but you will want to call first to be sure. The number is (718) 367-1010.
Wear comfortable shoes and plan to do a lot of walking.
Jack loved all of the animals that we got to see... and I loved watching Jack's face while he looked with wonder at the elephants, the giraffes, the lions, the tigers, the beautiful birds
But Jack's favorite animal was what he called the monkeys... better known as the gorillas.... He loved and I mean loved the gorillas... we had to spend at least an hour with them and they are what he is looking forward to going to the Bronx Zoo to see once again... The Monkeys...
