Special Dinners for Valentine's Day in Clark County

Valentine's Day is coming up in just two weeks, and that's a special event that may require some planning. Especially if you want to enjoy a special dinner with your special person - it's one of the busiest days of the year for restaurants. A few of our favorites for special occasions are Gray's at The Park in the Vancouver Hilton, Hudson's Bar and Grill in the Heathman Lodge, and our local favorite Roots in Camas.  Each offers fresh, locally sourced cuisine, great ambiance and service, and excellent wine selections.  Gray's is offering a special Valentine's Day menu, but you can be assured that any of these spots will offer a memorable dining experience.  

 

Pairing Wine and Chocolate for Valentine's Day

My husband and I embrace the notion that if red wine and dark chocolate each have health benefits, then why not enjoy them together? And there's nothing wrong with celebrating Valentine's a little early.  

 



This month's First Friday in downtown Camas features "A Chocolate Affair to Remember" on February 6th.  The whole town joins in to celebrate the Valentine-themed event. Each business will have a jar of candy - guess the the amount to win. There will also be wine tastings and truffle sampling, and the opportunity to win gift baskets of chocolate. Festivities include karaoke, a DJ, and two art shows that will run from at 5 to 8 pm.

If you're up for a full weekend of pairing wine and chocolate, Clark County wineries offer their annual Wine and Chocolate Tour at some of its featured wineries. Various styles of red and white varietals will be paired with a range of white, milk, and dark chocolates. Participating wineries include: Confluence Vineyards & Winery, East Fork Cellars, Rusty Grape Vineyards, Olequa Cellars, Gouger Cellars & Winery, and Burnt Bridge Cellars in Vancouver. Hi Debb -- I've always heard that Valentine's Day along with Mother's Day are two days to avoid restaurants but there are so many other ways to enjoy the holiday.   If dining out is still in the picture, the suggestions of a local expert, like yourself, is always nice as well as the other advice where to find unique Camas gift ideas.

Debb, nice post to give those last minute procrastinators in your Camas, Washington area some great options well in advance to treat their special loved one to an amazing Valentine's experience.  I just heard that the national average spending is around $140 for those who do observe the occassion.  That could buy you and your hubby a lot of chocolate and Mountain Dew!

Yes, Valentine's Day is special but we don't like that clamor and rush of restaurants on that night.  We will embrace the day and get out ether the night before or after when we can actually enjoy what we want without that push.
