I Guess It’s A Trend If It Happens To You

One of the big benefits of technology Tom, everyone working from home.

My people all gradually started doing this about 15 years ago, our office now has much less desks and a well used meeting room table for those days when they do stop in with a few projects to discuss.

I Guess It’s A Trend If It Happens To You

My wife is a property manager for a very large property management company based in Folsom, CA. She has worked there for over 15 years and loves it. The company managed about 25,000 units back then and has grown to about 80,000 units today. This means a lot of grow in employees and all the support personnel. Back in the day, everyone had an office cube where they worked from when not out in the field.

Of the hundreds of managers that once occupied the building my wife was one of the final five to move home and work from a remote site. All the managers gave up space to house the enormous accounting department. So what is the trend?

It is not new certainly but when it happens to you, you begin to see how many others are doing the same. Since making adjustments to our home for my wife’s new workplace, it seems that everyone works from home. Now I know that it’s not entirely true but a number of our friends, my work associates, and local real estate agents are all working from their own home. I guess it is now a trend.  J

Hi Bob, It may be a trend, but not a good one from my perspective. I think a ;lot is lost by not having everybody together in one place. A lot of synergy happens when we are all together that doesn't happen when we are alone.

The Jews have it right. They believe that they need a quorum (what is it? a minimum of 10?) in order to pray and be heard. They call it a minyan. I think that this principle applies to all human endeavors.

I do think it is a new trend.... to me it seems that everyone has at least two jobs and one is conducted from home.
