When One Door Closes, Another Opens.....

Alexander Graham bell said it best " “When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”

There is so much truth to that quote we should not be dwelling on the negative and the things we can't control in our lives, we should focus on the opportunity and new pathways in life.Door closed

The Door Closed in the Real Estate Market

Many doors closed are present now in the Real Estate Market.

  • We are in a Recession
  • The Market is Terrible
  • Too Many Foreclosures
  • Negative Press
  • Etc Etc Etc (The Point is moot anyways)

Too much Negativity is present and all it will ever do is breed more negativity.  Its a poison, if you believe it then it must be true, the flip side to that is if you believe in positive things, then it must be true as well.  Which would you rather believe?

We can't change the closed doors, lets not dwell on that, lets think outside the box and focus whats really important right now, and thats the present and future.

The Open doors in the Real Estate Market

As with many closed doors in the market, there are as many if not more, open doors.Door Open

  • The Market will always find a way to correct itself
  • People will always still buy/sell houses and refinance REGARDLESS of the press/media.
  •  With every negative press there are POSITIVE news out there, yes its easier to find the negative news because its more exciting to the ratings, but if you actually stop and smell the roses, you will find people still sharing POSITIVE news out there, don't believe me check out this Activerain group here and here
  • and finally....the biggest door opener

Here is the BIGGEST door opening and opportunity!!

  • So what we have foreclosures...with foreclosures we have NEW and MORE 1st time home buyers because of this.  You can look at this as either the glass half full or half empty.  The glass half full is seeing GOLDEN OPPORTUNITIES instead of a loss.

Yes there will always be things in life that may seem like a setback or trouble but its our own point of view that can find opportunities in any given situation instead of conforming to failure.

Glass Half FullSo open that door with full force and look at the glass half full, and make things happen!

As always thanks for checking out my blog, comments are always welcomed and have a fantastic day!

I think there are a LOT of opportunites here for forward-thinking agents.  You make some good points, and I agree that it's all in your perspective, or outlook.

Justin, thank you for reminding me of the positive things I should concentrate on.  It is very easy to get caught up in believing there is no hope, but I just need to change my focus.

Hi Justin, I am with you 100%.  We should always focus on the positive.  For we walk by faith and not by sight.  And that goes for our hearing as well.  Always think on and listen to the positive and not the negative.  As I always quote from "Your Life Follows Your Words, stay positive.

Hi Justin,
Your title caught my eye because I have heard that "when one door close, another opens" all my life from my Grandmother.  Know what?  She's right and so are you.

In my mind, there is nothing but positives in this market!  First it is a perfect time to buy while rates are still fantastic and inventory is plenty!  Second, people have to realize that houses ARE selling and Buyers are buying!

Now, can owners makes 20% year after year after......NO!!  But, decades ago, property only increased 3-5% per year.  Too many people think 2000-2005 was the way the real estate market was for the past 50 years.  No, we are in a "normal" market.

Rick - Great Feedback!! Thanks for commenting and stopping by, I totally agree people are getting spoiled with the last few years, we are in a normal market and its always a great time to buy and sell houses!

OMG, the fac that I should go to be now has nothing to do with your blog but hey....who cares?

Uhhhhh, I like being negative.....and postiive.  I like being negative cause it allows me to be prepared for the challenges in my personal and business life.  Yet I try to balance it with postives.  The Positive and the negative are supposed to neutralize each other.  the Yin and the Yang.  For every action their is a reaction.  -1 +  +1=0.

I didn't know Bell said that phrase and have been using that saying my whole life.  It is what...negative(the door closes) and positive(the door opens).

The laws of nature do not allow for all positive.  Even in chaos theory, there is a certanty underlying the chaos(as in brain waves appearing chaotic but having a pattern)..ok enough of my being a show off..great blog...and to end with a positive..yes being positive is the only way to neutralize the negative!

Ph?  Acidity neutralized by what?  ok enough...good night!

The tough part in the change in the market has been that many good agents have just never had to deal with a radically different market. It takes new approaches and some good old common sense to make the change.

I remember three years ago a top producing agent having a meltdown because she couldn't get offers accepted. She had tons of buyers that just kept losing out. Our market runs in cycles, agents need to stay balanced and stay focused.

Geoff - Great insight, yes it does run in cycles and we just have to maintain with focus, thanks for commenting.
