Very interesting....you've inspired me to get my video camera out. I've wanted to get going on this for a while and realizing how it helps my SEO lights that fire! thanks for the interesting info and your hair is fun!
However, virtually all of the video sites have "no follow" tags on their links, so you really don't get any "Google Juice" from videos, but you YOU get placement and rankings, which is very valuable. I have hundreds of videos on about 15 different sites, and virtually all have "no follow" tags - some don't even generate an actual link back to your site (like AOL video and others)
However, it was much easier and faster a year or two ago for this to happen before everybody started uploading these slideshows masquerading as video - in more competitive areas it's become increasingly more difficult to get good placement. There's definite value there, just not in "link juice"!
You need to also be careful when uploading videos to certain sites - many do NOT allow commercial advertisements (such as Blip.TV, Spike.Tv, etc) and they will ban your account if you start uploading there, so be sure to check their TOS.
However, we are getting Google juice from our links. The effort is giving us great results. I know many are going to say that makes no sense. My suggestion is try it, be sure to include the your full http link into the title and the description. Setup a Google alert to track the results.
I have noticed that over the last few months that video sites that place high are not remaining at the top of the SERPs, the listings moves down quickly. Which is why we have been more concerned with the links back to our site than the video showing in the SERPs itself?
Absolutely Bonnie, I really feel video is the future of this industry in a lot of ways. Nothing is the end all be all, but video adds so benefits to you, your clients and possible buyers.
This is another skill needing to be practiced. Posting videos on the internet services. I have a couple videos on You Tube, but I did not get them linked to my website. I will go back to see if I can figure that relationship.
Another question is How do you get the video of your browser content. And then how do you add the corner video feed?
Those are impressive, as is the topic and content of the presentation.
And none of us would have even noticed the hair thing, had you not mentioned it.
Hi Richard, I use a peice of software called Camtasia, It records teh screen as I work ans talk to you. It also allows for the Picture in Picture in the corner. I have my JV camcorder hooked up as a webcam.
Maybe I'll create a video on how to create videos for everyone.
