Occasional Local Events at the Last Bookstore in Los Angeles, CA

Occasional Local Events at the Last Bookstore! In Los Angeles, that is downtown Los Angeles!

downtown los angeles real estate endre barath

As most of you know I love to read and collect books, especially first edition books. Hence I always try to subscribe to Bookstores and their emails. I am a fan if Independent Bookstores and try to support them. Being a supporter of local shops, craftsmen, clearly bookstores fall into the same category.

Those of you who might have missed it I wrote a Blog Post a while back about “The Last Bookstore” they are located Downtown Los Angeles. They are probably one of the top fifteen bookstores in the World as far as design, artwork and style. I will try to find a few pictures to get my message out.

There are times when they have musicians performing on the first floor, other times they have readings from Poets and Writers. Truly a great place to pop in when you are in the mood for a little culture.

They sell currently published books as well as out of print “used” books as well. That is where the fun begins for me. Searching for books on the shelves like you are in a library, the difference is if you find something you like you can buy it at a very inexpensive way.

So instead of me listing to you what the events are going to be upcoming, let me give you the link and you can keep up as I do and when something catches your interest just top in and do not forget to buy a T-Shirt from the last Bookstore!   http://eepurl.com/bb2e3v  here is last month’s issue   http://eepurl.com/ba7BBH

While you at it check out my blog post about this fantastic Bookstore “The Last Bookstore”

May there always be bookstores!  There is something special about holding real books.  I treasure the art books that I have with color plates.    When I was young a teacher asked how many books we had at home. I answered hundreds. Both of my parents loved to read.   I'm way beyond that number now.

Good morning Endre. Let's hope that that is not the last bookstore in existence. There have been a lot of bookstores in this area that have closed due to online competition.

I love the name of this bookstore.  I am a literacy advocate and volunteer as Discussion Leader for the Missouri Humanities Council's Read From The Start.  I would be at the store often if I was in the area.

Good morning Endre. We used to stop in at bookstores all the time, but not so much these days, but you go for a different reason. Hope you keep finding those special books.

Make it a great weekend!

Endre, it may well be one of the last Bookstores as well. Independent at least.  I fondly remember the little book store that used to be in Downtown Waterbury,  Mercy Boyd's.  It looked like one of those book stores you might find in England, and it just had a special smell

Endre, I like reading a book and want to hold it in my hand...not an iPad.  The name of this bookstore is one that people will remember.

I am into books and collecting to Endre. It is sort of sad that there are few book stores left. The small guy has been run out of town by Amazon.  I just got a 100 year old book on the history of elegant apartment buildings in Chicago. I waited 10 years on a waiting list of many rare book sellers to find this and it is really cool. Many buildings in the book are not even still surviving.

Hi Endre - That's a great name for a bookstore but it's so sad that these are disappearing. We used to have a great one in Denver - the Tattered Cover - but it's just an empty shell of its former self.

Endre sounds like the Last Bookstore in Los Angeles, CA is as much of an event as it is a bookstore.

This is a great post for book lovers (and music!) in the Los Angeles, CA area.  I can see why you love the Last Bookstore.  I like to read too - we didn't talk about that when we spoke.  ;)  Always learning. . . :)

I love to read, too, Endre. Lately things in life have made it so I haven't been able to pick up a good book. I miss that.

Sounds like my kind of place Endre, I enjoy spending time in these kinds of places, though as of late, I have been taking the easy way out and just stopping by Amazon.
