I would like to introduce myself to the community. I have recently been appointed to the Center Director of 4 More Appointments, Inc. 4 More is marketing company that specializes in creating inbound business for our customers. We transfer live calls, set face to face appointments and support on site call center consultation for the inusrance, financial and mortgage industries.
The fact is most reps and agents don't fail in these industries because they can't pass the exams. On the contrary; almost all pass the exams and then fail because they run out of prospects to share their knowledge and expertise with. The companies have divested themselves of salaries and benefits and forced the sales force into a self employed status with zero marketing budget.
These industries have gone through a lot of changes of recent. Most of these have been to the detriment of the sales force. Specifically, opt-in marketing. In other words, watch a commercial by one of the major insurance or financial companies and see if it says anything about the local rep in your community. don't worry it won't. It always leads people to an 800 number and a website. These online applications are then diseminated to reps at the companies discretion or sold to agencies that are willing to pay for the on line applications.
When the reps have exhausted their freinds, families and referrals they term out. All of the business, and any renewals or premiums, go to the company. Multiply this by about 1,000,000 and this is what has happened in the industry in the last decade. The unfortunate piece is that in a down market or recession the reps have even less resources to market themselves.
