Tea

The past year has brought a slew of new tea houses to the Boise market as connoisseurs are working to grow consumer interest in a gathering of friends over a pot of tea instead of a cup of Joe. In reading the latest Boise Weekly article, It's A Tea Party,  I learned of three new Boise tea houses offering different experiences for Boisians looking for a unique place to enjoy a hot beverage.  If you are in the area, give one of these a try and let us know what you think!

Joyful Tea:  Located at 5823 W Franklin Rd inside the Boise International Market, this tea house has a British feel.  Carrying over 120 loose leaf teas, this shop also hosts various classes and gatherings in their small shop.  Consumers can purchase loose leaf tea to brew at home or enjoy as much as they like in the tea house for $5/hr.  Sounds like a great deal!

Leaf Tea house:  Located in downtown Boise at 212 N Ninth St, this tea house sells 80+ loose leaf teas and also offers a selection of vegen food items.  This shop is said to have more of an Asian feel with it's color scheme and greenery throughout.  Many local artistry events have been hosted at this shop to include poetry readings, book clubs and jazz and blues ensembles.

Snake River Tea Company:  Located in downtown Boise at 801 W Main St, Suite 103, this tea shop boasts a modern environment.  Said to look more like a coffee shop, it is still a tea house at heart with the espresso machine only used to make tea lattes.  If you aren't quite sold on giving up your cup of Joe, this shop has a few flavors it offers in free samples to entice you.

Boise is still quite small compared to other metropolitan areas, but we have made great strides over the past few years in developing our cultural and artistic offerings for food and entertainment.  These new tea houses are just one example.  I suppose you could say we are turning a new leaf.  Pardon the pun!
