Quality of Life

Are you a workaholic? Do you spend more time working then most people?

While I think it is important to work hard; there must be balance in our lives. Professionals in the real estate industry are notorious for working long and odd hours. I would venture to say that that is why most Realtors don't last more than 18 months in the business. And those of us that have, well we've just learned some bad habits. Most of us have sacrificed time with our family and friends. I realize that it is essential to be available when the consumer is ready however, we need to schedule some planned time off! If we don't have anyone else that works with us, find another Realtor that you trust. Establish days that you will help each other out. We must have some down time or we will get burnt out!

Gary Keller wrote an excellent seminar on balance in life called Quantum Leap. It is not Keller Williams specific, it is human being specific! I encourage anyone who may be out of balance with their work and personal life to find a way to take this course or find another that helps you establish priorities and balance in your life. If you would like more information about Quantum Leap, please feel free to contact me!

Nicole, after all these years in this business I do keep odd hours. Lately, I have decide to work Mon - Sat. No more work on Sundays. Saturdays are on my list and will get cut back. If your buyer is serious they will make the time to look during the week. Believe me. Great Post.

I work long hard hours, but I also know when to slow down. I slept in this morning to get refreshed and will work this afternoon into the early evening.

Nicole- Whenever a person works from home, it can be difficult to quit working. My boyfriend and I laugh about our dueling computers, we both are on them way too much!

I am guilty, but even before my Real Estate career I had this problem. I think it might be a personality trait for me. I think it is important for me to work on balance. I recently wrote a members only post " One thing I have noticed about hard work." If we make an effort to balance our family, friends, health, and career we can do it. We must schedule the other aspects of our lives and make them as important as our careers. Thanks for the post! I am now scheduling to be at my daughters softball game this afternoon.
