EagleIn listening to buyers and sellers of real estate as well as the workers that interact with them (REALTORS, Stagers, Lenders, etc.) you do come to the conclusion that everyone is so incredibly busy. I do wonder if people are not carving out enough time for

                        THEMSELVES

What a novel idea. Time for yourself. It is needed to re-charge your batteries. So the question to ask yourself

                    WHERE ARE YOU FREE?

Free from the pressures in your life. Free to disconnect from all the electronic gizmos that connect you with everything. Free to have some peace and quiet for a period of time. Free from other people briefly. Where is your respite?

For me it is the basketball court, running, and walks in nature.

Have you found your freedom? Think about it.

Gary, this is such a short post that speaks volumes to Linda and I at this time.  Our business here in Indianapolis has been so explosive over the past year that we take little time to ourselves.  We talk more and more about how we are going to plan to do just that.  Great reminder about what's really important.

Gary - Sitting at the beach just listening to the waves or watching the sun set, two of my favorite things to do.

Gary,

We always need to have a safe and quiet retreat.  A place to relax and refuel......finding it is not easy, yet very necessary.

Gary- dude, you are such an old hippie, I love you!  I don't take nearly the free time I should, but like Bob, reading is my love, and I will read almost anything!  I espeically enjoy reading the books my (high school aged) kids are reading for school, so we can talk about them.  I have learned so much about my boys from discussions about what they think about books they have read!

Its a great thought. Its funny....even people who I know arent that busy say how busy they are.  Being busy is a mindset.  My motto is Im always available for you and your referrals.  This keeps me in the mindset of when people call me....i wont say...ohh sorry...ive been busy.    Busy is a mindset....so is being available.  I do have freedom. Its a great point you made.  I love traveling...time off with my family playing , riding bikes, etc.

Very good question, Gary. We deifinitely do need those 'soul recharging' times. My places where I feel most free are next to a body of water, in the forest, with a loved one, deep in meditation with the universe.

I think I'll be free and take a road trip next week.  You've inspired me to do so!  It's always hard to prepare to leave but once I leave, I'm gone.

Gary, I hope everyone finds some free time, we need it!  Mine is all over, just being in the City or near a beach and with people I enjoy spending time with.

Hey Gary....Great post!! How ironic the first two posts I read tonight are exactly what I need to "hear!" We are in a society of perpetual "doing". We literally have to make an appointment with ourselves! My time is when I run! It is a love/hate relationship but so exhilerating and provides such a great sense of renewing!! Spoiled by the warm temps of the South....I look forward to saying good-bye to what has been a cold winter for us and making an appt. with myself. Thanks for the reminder!

In my jeep, top off (of the Jeep, not me), riding the country roads.  My mind clears . . . sometimes I really think the wind blows out the cobwebs.  I come back renewed.  Great thoughts Gary . . . I never really thought of it as being "free".  I like it.

Gary- One of the drawbacks of having a home office, is you never really feel like you are done work for the day. Even if I shut it all down and close the door, I often remember something I was supposed to have done, and I'm right back at it! Sometimes, I wish we had that old fashioned whistle system that alerts us to when the work day is over!

I think we are getting some great ideas from everyone on being free, from reading, hanging out at the beach, driving a jeep, fishing, time with friends/family. Feel free to steal the ideas, or keep coming up with more, cause I'm enjoying reading them. It's all about the recharge, baby!

I find I'm most happy when I have been able to spend quiet time up at my mom and dads place in Ellijay.  They have a cabin right on the river and there is something about sitting by it and letting it soak in.  During the summer me and the kids get down in the river and rebuild the water falls that have tumbled, something about that just "Washes" all my cares away, look out if you're down stream. lol

Gary - what a great post. And great reference to the "electronic gizmos" that connect us. Isn't that the truth?

I have been so incredibly busy lately and I need to get back to my "me time". For me, it usually my gym time in the morning, or walking my dog at night listening to my ipod.

Gary- I am so grateful for your posts, they always seem to speak to me and I hear things I need to. I have been run down a lot lately and after reading this it occurs to me(yet again) that I am not spending enough down time.. regeneration is required or we lose all momentum. Thank you once again for your firmly planted on the ground reminders! Have a great weekend my friend!

HI Gary- Business can consume anyone.  "Me" time is  so important.  If we do not renew ourselves we are not good to others.   I spend alot of time in the car so I use this time for "me".  I am a huge music fan and make the most of my time on the road by rocking out!!  I have a annual weekend with 9 girlfriends in October.  No phones, computers, TV's-we alternate ocean-mountains each year. This will be our 8th trip.  My husband and I try to schedule long weekends every few months to regroup-no phones, computers, TV's.  Nothing better than being inspired by nature!!    Great Post!

Gary my free time is at my kids' sporting events...there's alot, 32 this month alone!  But....I only get this opportunity once in my life so even if I don't get to go off alone somewhere I do get refreshed & energized, knowing I'm where I'm suppose to be.

My "me" time is in my garden.  It's a combination of stewardship of my part of the earth, beautification, and wonder at the wisdom of a seed or bulb.
