Enjoying the warmer weather in Canadian Lakes, MI

What a beautiful weekend we had here in Canadian Lakes.  Finally some sun and warm weather.  Seems everyone was out doing yard work.  Spring is such a good mood season, the clouds are lifting and everyone starts venturing outdoors after a long, long winter.  Looks like every bit of ice on the lakes has finally melted, it is good to see the water sparkling again.  I can't wait to see some boats out there.

One of our fellow Canadian Lakers posted some great pictures on the Ann Mudel daily newsletter this weekend, of an eagle they spotted in a tree near their house .  I have yet to see one in person but more and more lately I have been hearing people talk about these eagle sightings.  I hope I get a chance to see one this year.  Speaking of the wildlife, it never ceases to amaze me the number of deer spotted.  When I first started coming to Canadian Lakes three years ago I was blown away by the number of deer sightings.  Being from a rural area in Northern Michigan I was accustomed to seeing plenty of deer, but never like this.  All I have to do is look out a window at pretty much any given time and I will see them.  Our family has really enjoyed sitting out on our back deck and watching as they cautiously approached. It is fantastic to live in such an area where my children can appreciate the beauty of nature.  Where they can ride their bikes down to the lake, around the block, or to Turtle Pond to see how many turtles they can spot.  Little things such as that just make their day.

It was a great choice to move here.  The community is safe, quiet, peaceful and beautiful.  The people who live in Canadian Lakes are helpful and friendly.  There are many community events, I was even thinking about joining the hiking group this morning on their hike, but I have to be at work.  Maybe next time.  They will probably have a good turn out seeing as even I felt motivated to participate.   I do plan to volunteer tomorrow morning in the monthly street clean up.  I am looking forward to getting out and helping pick up the trash that has accumulated along the streets over the winter.  Sure hope the rain that is predicted will hold off until we are finished.

Yesterday one of my clients called me and told me he is planning to come check out the area on Saturday if the weather is good.  He is looking to buy a second home on a lake.  Well we have plenty of them.  I think he is going to be impressed when he gets here.  I am blessed to be a real estate agent in an area of Michigan that hasn't been hit too hard by the housing doom.  We are down 7% from last year and holding.  Not too bad considering most areas of the country are really suffering.  So my best advice is if you are looking to buy a home this really is the best time to do it.  We have a lot of homes on the market, some amazing lake fronts and golf fronts and everything in between.

I want to add that if you have never been to Canadian Lakes, taken a tour, seen the amazing lakes and the St. Ives Golf course, or the castle - you really should come check it out. This isn't for everyone, it surely isn't the city.  I have lived in some fantastic cities in my life, but nothing compares to being able to see the sky reflected off the water like a glass pane, or the soothing sound of birds chirping in the morning.  This is the place I am raising my children and I am thrilled about it.

Until next time...
