Stone Brooke Crossing's First Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale - The Results!

All I can say is WOW! The response we have recieved from our neighbors has been nothing but positive! Many have requested that we do this at the very least annually. In case you missed it, our team threw a neighborhood garage sale & open house tour this past Saturday, April 5. We live in the neighborhood and were very excited to serve our community.

It all began early Saturday morning as Laura & I started putting out directional signs on Virginia Pkwy around 6 am. We could already see cars driving slowly around the neighborhood scoping out where the sales would be. We then placed a balloon on the mailbox of all featured garage sales so that they would be easier to identify. After all that was said and done, Laura and I set up our "Headquarters" next to the Crutcher Crossing entrance by the pool. Once 7 am hit, we began passing out maps to the shoppers as they pulled into the neighborhood.

The traffic was pretty constant. With the $15 registration fee that the featured garage sales paid, we were able to advertise in the Dallas Morning News (3-day ad), a 3-day ad for 2 weeks in the McKinney Courier Gazette + 15 local affiliated papers (Allen, Plano, Frisco, etc), local "Coffee Talk" circular, and online at Craigslist, McKinneyNews.net, and various garage sale websites. In addition to the print and online advertising, we were able to purchase 25 directional signs that we used in the neighborhood and up and down Virginia Pkwy in order to draw in the most traffic. I even had one shopper email me asking for directions to the sale because they were coming all the way from Oklahoma! Wow - they love garage sales!

Throughout the morning and afternoon we had several neighbors come down and visit us to say Hi and to grab some donuts provided by Nathan Scott with First United Mortgage. Many said that the traffic was constant and they sold almost EVERYTHING!

While driving through the neighborhood to get a feel for how things were going, I even noticed several impromptu garage sales and lemonade stands go up! The kids got in on the excitement too!

We also rec'd several donations to the Samaritan Inn. Some even donated cash! We couldn't have been more pleased! Laura and I estimate that there were at least 250 groups (MINIMUM) of shoppers who attended.

Our thanks go out to everyone who participated. Stay tuned for the FALL Neighborhood Garage Sale! Tell your neighbors to check out our website for all the details - www.RealFamilyRealEstate.com.
