Talk about a snow day in Phoenix.....

This time of year (winter) every time  I mention that Phoenix is in the 70's to low 80's to all those folks in snow and cold land they accuse me of  'bragging'.  What is that all about?  I'm not bragging I'm just telling it like it is in my neck of the woods in February. The whining has to stop I say!  Do I poo poo on their weather posts during our warm (ok hot) summer months?  No I don't!  I enjoy their pictures of summer and wish I was there. And honestly Mary Yonkers has been posting some spectacular winter photos and I wish I was there too enjoying what she's seeing - winter beauty!  The good news is here in Phoenix we can be in the valley of the sun where it's in the 70's and head north a few hours and enjoy skiing too!  My way of thinking says that's a good thing...a very good thing about living in Phoenix! So you see it's both a good day to golf or ski in Phoenix!

Ski season in Phoenix!

Skiing in Phoenix

For those who are going to say - oh but you don't understand blah blah.....YES, quite frankly I do! For goodness sakes I grew up in MN and I know what 30 to 40 below zero cold and 6 feet of snow is all about. Freaking cold! We thought it was normal! We used to go cross county skiing in the brutal cold - how nuts is that!  Until, of course I went to Florida one year and that was that!

Lovely winter day in Phoenix to golf!

Anna, you are not far from what others must deal with on a typical winter storm day.  I much prefer the sun with an option to drive a few hours and get to the snow. I have there here too

When I was in Phoenix I did see snow, 40 miles north there was a dusting.

Nothing wrong with snow as long as I don't have to shovel it, live in it or drive in it. I have been there done that and ain't going back. Where I land down the road will be warm in the winter and cooler in the summer

Hi Anna - Guilty as charged - I'm pretty sure I ragged on you for bragging about your winter weather, but only because I'll do the exact same thing about our 300+ days of sunshine. There's nothing wrong with loving where we live and bragging about it when we can.

Anna, from where I'm sitting in snowless Franklin TN, I'm enjoying both your posts about the warm weather and the snowy ones as well. We're in a moderate zone here--not too hot--not too cold. Perfect, I think. Enjoy where you're at!

Listen Miss Banana, I know that you are really jealous that we, in Westchester County, New York, are having a frigid cold snap, lots of frozen pipes and plowing bills of about $300 per month? And, you wish you could wear a mink coat and earmuffs with rubber boots due to the slosh!  I know your type

Anna here in Denver I could have went snowboarding this morning and could be golfing right now. I love this weather here.....70 degrees down here and snow for skiing only 1 hour up the mountain.

Not everyone can say they just had a Super Bowl in there backyard

Your two photos on this blog certainly provide proper contrast, Anna!  I had to smile about your cross-country skiing adventures when you were young.  I use to ski a lot, and now I am sitting here wondering why I was out there freezing my butt off.  I did learn to acquire a great pair of after-ski boots, and to hang out more at the lodge in front of the gorgeous fireplace however.  Now, that's what I call maturity. . .LOL

I would take 100 degrees right now. I think many people joke about the snow or are even sarcastic when the comment about the southern warmth in a fun way, but i can believe some may leave "not so nice" comments. I get them too posting about 4 feet of snow in a week. It is rare, certainly average and dont think it happened since 1978.  I love hearing about the nice weather and also like to hear about 120 degrees because i have never felt it. I hope to be able to visit one of these winters.

My only complaint this time of year is that when we are starting to get in to the high 70's and low 80's the weeds start to pop up everywhere! I'll be on backyard weed duty with Josh this afternoon!

I was in Phoenix one year in the summer.  Hot and dry.  Unlike here when it's hot and humid.

The temperature was easily over a 100 degrees.  I could watch my skin dry out.

Oh well.
