Effective June 1, 2008 there will be a new area code in Utah.  The new area code is (385) which will overlay with (801).  Why is this important to you?  Well you will now have to dial all numbers in 10-digits instead of 7-digits.  If you put a number into your cell phone it would be wise to just add the area code regardless of where you call (ie: 801-555-5555).  There will be a grace period for using 7-digits, where your call will still be completed.  That grace period ends on March 1, 2009.  After that date your calls will be sent to a recording and you will be instructed to use all 10-digits.  Utah is expanding so quickly that we have now become a big city!
