This is your chance to immerse yourself in a full weekend of the history, technique, hands-on experience and FUN of canoeing and kayaking.
The East Coast Canoe & Kayak Festival will be at the James Island County Park April 18-20, 2008. The festival will include lectures, on-water classes and demonstrations directed to the novice as well as the experienced paddler. To many participants, the heart of the festival is running 4 classrooms simultaneously throughout the 3-day event. You will have the opportunity to meet and learn from experts and other knowledgeable paddle sport enthusiasts. A wide variety of topics include exotic paddling locations, how-to sessions on navigation, selecting or repairing equipment, and preparing gourmet cuisine fresh from your dry bag.
Refine your skills in a master class featuring many of the leading instructors in the paddling world or learn new strokes, rescues, or rolls with expert instruction from H2Outfitters. All on-water classes require pre-registration. Some classes require you to bring your own equipment and are $15 to $30 in addition to your festival registration. Over 40 commercial exhibitors will also be on-hand to give you a chance to try before you buy! At the East Coast Canoe & Kayak Festival, you will be able to test boats, paddles, and accessories on the water at the festival site. You will also have the opportunity to speak with equipment designers and manufacturers throughout the weekend. It's bound to be a terrific weekend! **Photo from a previous festival from the James Island County Park website |
