Silvia,

I have not ridden a horse yet, and I have great admiration for them and the people that love them.  We had a client in Wellington who had a horse property listed over 100 acres with riding area for dressage, a barn that could have been converted into a home.  No expense was spared, and each stall was enormous with a brass engraved name for each horse...a kitchen for the staff and sleeping quarters for them upstairs...no home, a lake, and the price was $69 million...LOL A

Nice localism post, Silvia. Horse shows are really neat. The horses and riders are dressed up and groomed to look and act their best.

Hi Debbie Reynolds

Your comment about being on the back of a horse is so true. I was on a cruise and took an excursion to a volcano. The trails were steep and high in elevation so part way up they gave us the option of riding the horses that knew the trails so I jumped on that opportunity. But alas we had to walk across the lava fields without the horse but he was waiting for me on the other side to take me down to the bus. I was the first one across and quickly got on my horse and I was the first one back. Terrible excursion but loved the horse.

Ooooooh, a free horse show.  I would be all over this, Silvia.  I love the smell the look and the feel of almost any horse.

Will Hamm   It's amazi g the things we do for love!  :-)

Rob Thomas thanks!

Ron & Alexandra Seigel I've only been on a horse once and it was a long time ago.  We have some nice horse properties in the area and quite affordable compared to the one you mentioned!  :-)

George Souto  it's the first one I'm aware of around here as well.

Debbie Laity I suppose they would be to show themselves from their best side.

Kristin Hamilton CA Realtor  those cruise excursions seem to be hit and miss sometimes.  It doesn't seem that it was the horses fault though.

Marco Giancola  sure hope so,  thanks for stopping by!

Suzanne McLaughlin  sounds like this would be the event for you!

Yes, the horse was my hero and made me love horse even more. The cruise excursion said 1.5 miles of walking but not the truth of 6 miles and the 6600 feet in elevation straight up. OMG....I was dying. They charged us $30. Truth be it; I would have paid $150 to get on one of those horses. They had 8 and all were taken. I complained to the cruise-line which has never given me any problems in the past 5 cruises and the concierge's said they would check into it. But I love horses and even more now.

FYI- Great localism !!!

My daughter has a Paint - we just had to buy her a new coat today as the rest of this week and into next is getting down to zero...poor little pony!  My daughter has rode (riden?) in two competitions and picked up several 2nd's...not bad...her instructor had a BAD accident two years ago and is now a quadrapeligic...very tragic....that whole situation really put the brakes on things for us.

Kristin Hamilton CA Realtor what an ordeal!  It really makes a difference on how much you have to walk especially for seniors or people who cannot walk well.  We went through a similar experience with a cruise line excursion.  It was a snorkeling tour and the water was so rough some people got kicked back to the shore as they were just getting in and it was very rocky so they got cuts and bruises. Not fun.

John Helmick I can certainly understand how the accident and resulting injury of the instructor can make you wary of your daughter riding.  It's a tough call.

It's nice that horses still have a place in our lives and hearts. When you think about it, it hasn't really been that long that horses have been pushed aside by automobiles.
