Katy ISD FFA Hosts Annual Livestock Show and Rodeo Feb 2015
Katy ISD Future Farmers of America (FFA) are hosting the 72 nd annual livestock show, rodeo and parade starting on Thursday February 19, 2015 and running through Saturday February 21, 2015. Pro Rodeo events will be seen each evening. The Rodeo will be held at the Fairgrounds at interstate I-10 and FM 1463 right next to the Merrell Center in Katy TX. Here is an opportunity to see Pro Rodeo up close, very personal and in Katy. The Rodeo begins each evening at 7:00 P.M.
Katy ISD each year offers one of the only remaining high school rodeos in the entire country which I think is amazing. All student participants work very hard, possess lots of talent and have very high standards to attain just so that they can be part of this yearly Rodeo event. Think about this.. How many events of any this nature or any nature have lasted 72 years? Very few..
Livestock judging events will all be held in the L.D. Robinson Pavilion. The livestock will arrive on Wednesday February 18 by no later than 5 P.M. and Special Rodeo arrival starting at 10 AM for steers, goats, hogs and lambs. The Livestock to be shown includes hogs, goats, lambs, broilers and steers. The Livestock auction is scheduled for Saturday at 1:00 P.M. and will be held in the Pavilion as previously mentioned. A buyer luncheon will be held at 11 AM. The barn closes each evening at 8 PM.
Ticket prices are extremely cheap for this kind of family entertainment as Children ages 3-10 are $5.00 per night at the gate. Children ages 2 and under are FREE. Adults ( ages 11 and older) are $10.00 per night at the gate. Tickets are being sold at Enterprise bank on Highway 90, Tradition Bank on Pin Oak and All Katy FFA Booster Clubs.
Be forewarned limited tickets will be available each evening at the gate. Do not delay and buy your tickets today.
KFLSRA is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization which benefits KISD FFA Chapters.
Youth events include Jr. Barrel racing; Jr. Roping; Sr. High School calf scramble; Mutton Bustin; and Stickhorse Races. Pro Rodeo events include bull riding, barrel racing, calf roping; team roping; and bronc riding.
This is great event to attend and support all these local kids who are taking part in the various activities and/or selling their livestock at the various auctions. I expect, as in prior years, a huge crowd to attend each evening and these auctions raise some serious money.
The pro Rodeo is sanctioned by the CPRA and is filled with numerous Rodeo competition events as mentioned above.
