Your #1 Green Home Choice? - HELP - What to Tell High Schoolers on Green Career Day?

 GO GREEN, FEEL GOLDEN!

That's the phrase for our local high school's first Green School Week!

My philosophy in life is always to take the challenge.

So, when my son's high school (San Marin High School in Novato, CA, of which I am really involved in) decides to host it's first ever Green School Week and asked for parent volunteers to make a Green Careen presentation, I said "Yes".

I figured that I am a Realtor, not really a Green career, but I can CERTAINLY come and make a presentation about Green Housing; perhaps the students can take the ideas home.

Now that the event is two weeks away, I thought, what a better place to get Green Housing Ideas if not from the Active Rain community?

The normal stuff:

Dual pane windows, solar panels (types), Wall Insulation, low flow toilet / shower head, gas vs wood-burning stove, fluorescent lights, drought-resiCstent plants (must have in Bay Area), etc

What's YOUR Top, #1 Green Idea for Green Housing if YOU have to go and make a presentation to your local high school?  Can be any of the above with details, pix.

Pictures? Statistics? Special Green Home Developments? All are welcome!

Sylvia

Love the idea of you, the real estate professional, sharing information in your neighborhood-community in this way! I am a Land Specialist...so for me ...possibly talkabout native landscaping and site planning...probably add a bit on organic gardening at the school...kids would love it...and parents might get some wonderful vegetables ...OH! and plant some fruit trees!

PS...LOVE your graphic...How did you do that? The graphic tells the story ..Possibly include it as a kind of "logo" on  print information materials in your neighborhood? Very to-the-point...

JaneAnne:  Thank you for the Great inut! I was thinking about the things inside of the house, and did not think about the landscaping.  This is especially important in Marin county (or the San Francisco Bay Area in general) because we have great potential of having drought in the summer.   Drought-resistent native plants will be great!

The graphics is really done using Microsoft Publisher.  Just cut and paste a picture there (the background is the school), I then added the word art (two, ,green and gold one), and the school logo (the mustang).  Grouop the three together, right click for the option to save it as a picture.  it's done.

Just did that becaseu I also help the school with their eNews (going GREEN for school).  I will offer this to them as the logo for the week.
