I know it is a pain. I really, really do...
But Please Know Why we Ask
It's been a long day. You've shown 10 - 15 homes and the last thing on earth you want to do is respond to the pesky listing agent with their request for feedback. I get it. I really do. I've been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
But please know I as a listing agent only ask because I promised my clients that I'd let them know what folks are saying about their home.
Why should you provide the feedback?
* It is the right thing to do. - Sounds simple but in most cases these folks ran around the house picking things up, then packed up their kids and the family pet and ran out the door. All in hopes of possibly selling their home. They are on pins and needles wondering how it went.
* It helps them know if they are priced right, if the home smells, if you loved their kitchen but hated their flooring. It helps keep them grounded in what the public, the buyers are seeing.
* This is emotional on both sides. Them not hearing anything is killing them.
* It helps your fellow agents set the right expectations when they do their weekly follow up calls with their clients. It helps them communicate real time data vs just what Zillow or Trulia is saying.
* If you had a listing, wouldn't you want the same respect and courtesy?
I Apologize Upfront
* I know that online feedback service I use barely lets you in the door before asking. I apolozige. However it is set up through the lockbox. Don't worry, I don't expect you to do it right then. :-)
* I apologize if I ask a couple of times. I only do this as the buyer is asking if I have heard anything yet.
* While I'm at it, I might as well apologize if my client didn't leave like they were supposed to. LOL
My Commitment to You the Buyer's Agent
* I promise I will answer your call, text or email when you call me to verify you can show it
* I promise to not bug you until 6 hours after you show the home
* I promise to give you the same respect and courtesy
I write this as I sit down to give feedback to my clients on my listings. I had 12 showings in all last week. Only 1 agent provided me feedback. She is awesome at it. I even sent her a personal thank you for the rockstar she is every time she shows one of my properties. She is a buyers agent and never does listings. Yet she understands how helpful this feedback is.
I'm sorry if it is a mini rant. I just know I give feedback anytime I am asked. Yes, even if I have to pull up the house and refresh my memory. I may not always rememer it all, but I do know what it is like to have that family wondering how it went.
thanks for listening. :-)
Tammy
