How to Get Your Home Ready to Sell

By
Real Estate Agent with The Evan Ryan Team

Spring is just around the corner in Springfield, MO. This is a popular time to list your home. Getting a home ready to sell can be a bit overwhelming, but it will pay off when you get that offer and can move to the next stage in your life.

Here are some tips to help get your home ready to list:

Paint:

One of the easiest and cheapest ways to freshen up your house is a new paint job. This gives a clean, move in ready feel to any listing.

Carpet:

Are you planning on replacing your carpet? I would suggest doing it before you list, instead of offering a carpet allowance. Buyers want a move in ready home, and already having the carpet replaced will help give a great first impression.

Depersonalize:

Sometimes this is the hardest tip for homeowners to do when they are planning to list. Taking down your personal pictures of yourself and family help the home buyer to invision themselves in your house. You want the buyer to think of it as their new house, not your house.

De-clutter:

De-clutter Everywhere!

Kitchen: Take as many kitchen appliances off of your counter tops as possible. This will allow buyers to see how much counter space your home offers. It will also allow them to invision what they want to use that counter space for.

Bathrooms: Remove the lotions, hair products, and anything else taking up room on your bathroom countertops.

Inside Cabinets: Organize your cabinets and drawers, buyer even look in there!

Storage for Toys: Consider getting a storage unit for toys (or anything else creating clutter in your house). At the least, make sure they are picked up or put into the attic. Toys everywhere create a mess that buyers focus on more than looking at the house.

Closets: Closet Space is something on most buyers minds, and they will be opening the closets to see how much space is in there. Having a clean, well organized closet, shows buyers that the house has enough storage space.

Clean Pet Areas:  Clean and deodorize the pet areas in your house. If the pet has damaged the wall or flooring around their cage, you may consider repairing that as well.

Don't Forget These Areas!: The Garage and the Laundry Room are two areas often overlooked. Remember, buyers look Everywhere! Cleaning and organizing these two areas show that you maintain all areas of your house.

It's not the same everywhere, so you need someone you can trust for up-to-date information. I am eager to serve you. Here are some of the things I can do for you:

Find Your Next Home
You need someone who knows this area inside and out! I can work with you to find the right home at the right price for you, including all the neighborhood amenities that matter - not to mention the essential criteria you have for your ideal home

Sell a Home
When it's time to move, you need someone who will advertise your home, show to prospective buyers, negotiate the purchase contract, arrange financing, oversee the inspections, handle all necessary paperwork and supervise the closing. I can take care of everything you need, from start to close.

Consult on Home Selling Tactics
Oftentimes buyers don't visualize living in your home the way you do. I can make your home attractive to its ideal audience - which can help you get top dollar. Things like staging the home, making repairs or minor improvements, or even simply painting the walls can be the difference between a home resting on the market and one that's sold fast.
