When I think about wining down on Wednesday, my thoughts slowly drifts back to Siena, located in the heart of Tuscany's mysterious beauty in wine country where wine barrels are utilized to feed the people and quench their thirst. During my first visit to Siena, I just missed the Sienese Palio horse race that attracts tourist twice a year in the Piazza del Campo, an absolutely beautiful setting in Italy that makes one feel like they are in a Renaissance era. The second time was last September when I traveled to meet writers from other parts of the country to share our stories and celebrate the culture and food. We broke bread, stayed at a the farmhouse that produced organic wine and Italian food in Volterra where just past the vinyards stood the magestic towers of San Gimignano. I highly recommend anyone who loves life and enjoys the taste of good food should try to make it to Italy. A good bottle of Chianti wine makes the celebrations of life even sweeter!

Patricia, when I retired from my government job, my husband and I with another went to Italy for three weeks in Nov 2006. It was a fantastic trip and the one thing well enjoyed was the wines and wineries in Italy.
