Inspired to Change a Photo to Appear Like a Painting

I posted a photo in a previous post and a comment was sent in from our own Myrl Jeffcoat and she suggested that it had a look a bit like a Monet effect. I wondered if I could actually do some post processing and make it look more like what she was suggesting.

I went into the fun application of Photofunia.com and changed the photo to look more like a painting. I then moved it to iPiccy.com and processed it in the HDR application.

It seemed to come out so well I thought I would share it here with you.

For photos other than those used for real estate where they must remain to reflect reality, for purposes here in our blogs, we can change things up a bit to make our photos more memorable.

Hi Larry O'Sullivan , I have played with that application and it is really quite nice considering that iPiccy is a free post processing. And actually i like it because it is so fast.

William, I didn't realize that Photofunia had that effect.  I'm going to check it out!  Your editing certainly enhanced the Monet appearance.

I attended an art show with some very well known photographers. I had asked them about post processing and discovered that when they want to sell prints of their work as opposed to the original raw data file that most photo selling companies want, they are often post processed to make suitable art work. Today, there are so many ways to create art from photos.

Hi William - The duck photo came out very well, and does have that impressionist feel to it. Using the Photoshop artistic filters is one of my signature moves for my personal photography, along with having some of the really good results printed on canvas.

I'm glad you shared the thoughts of professional photographers about photo editing in today's world.  Occasionally, I will visit Debi Boucher's Facebook page. She has been doing some amazing artistic editing of her photos.  Some of them seem almost magical!

I used to have software that would make a watercolor looking print out of a photo, but an upgrade in computers and it no longer would install.  I need to look for an alternative.
