This Isnt your grandfathers Real estate anymore!

I make use of every technological device and support that I can. Todays home buyer and home sellors demand to have instant gratification and knowledge. As realtors we have to be on the cutting edge of this. I purchased the Talking House Program from Broadcast Marketing for my new Brokerage and I offer it to all of my home selling clients. I also will offer it to any FSBOs in my area to help them sell their house on their own,if they end wanting to use an agent then I am well placed to be that agent. I will add some more tech tools later but just a short list are laptop(wifi capable), PDA, portable printer, cell phone or smart phone, sonic measuring tape, portable DVD player, talking house, web cams, web sites, blogs, 800 lines, this isnt your grandfathers real estate brokerage anymore!

Eric, I agree, the hard part is finding time to stay on top of all of the new technology and still make a living!  It seems that things change or something new and revolutionary comes out every other week.  I do like it better now than the way things used to be done.

I'd be curious to hear what you use the portable DVD player and web cam for?  Everything else on your list, with the exception of Talking House, I've got covered.

You are exactly right.  We have to stay a step ahead in all our marketing, technologies, and lead capturing devices.

Hi Eric;

I agree with you.. it is an different kind of market, we need to learn and make adjustments to be successful.

Eric. All is so true. Read, read, read. That is the only way to be ahead of the competition and your clients. Thanks, Royal..

Sorry, I don't agree. Talking House is nothing to write home to Mom about as far a technological advances go. Now if you want to talk about not being like grandfather real estate. How about going completely paperless, having a tablet computer. I do not find your list to be that impressive, these technological advances like 800#'s have been around a long time.

Good luck with the FSBO approach.

Hey Eric,

For the most part I agree with you - don't care for the talking house.  I agree with Royal - read - read - read - that's why I'm reading your blog.  And I am doing the best I can on going paperless - I'm doing Zipforms Docusign and it is awesome!  I wrote a blog -  http://activerain.com/blogsview/454238/Are-you-Paperless last week.  Thanks for the info - great blog.

Eric:  I agree with technology but also do not necessarily like the talking house.  I tried that one years ago.  However, that does not mean that it will not work well for you.

I agree, agents have to get on the technology train or get left behind.

Good Post!
