2-24-15 Snow in WilmingtonWilmington, NC, used to get snow about once every 7 or 8 years. Now, it seems like we get it once a year, which really isn't so bad. We get a dusting, sometimes an inch or two. It's just enough to give kids a taste of snow and to remind the northern transplants why they now live in the South.

Today, Wilmington received a light dusting. Schools were closed to accomodate slick road conditions and students who aren't equipped to deal with the temperatures. The snow is due to turn into sleet and freezing rain, so Snow in Wilmingtonthere will be a bit of a mess later. The crazy thing is that it was in the 60s on Sunday!

Yes, there were road accidents. Some drivers tend to underestimate how quickly the highways can freeze. The Cape Fear Bridge was iced over and there were some accidents on the bridge to Wrightsville Beach. That's why many people stick at home when we get hit with snow.

By the way, it's supposed to continue warming up and be in the 60s on Sunday and 70s on Monday. Whew! I think we're all ready for Spring to get here!
