...Keywords, Linking, SEO, Relevance, Theme, Market Niche, Content, Hosting..... design is a very small part in the midst of what really gets significant traffic.

Returning to my work in interiors last year, I decided to Build My Own Site.

I'd barely used the internet before, but had the time between careers. Wanting to see if I could do it, I also made it an informational site with ads and referral affliations to bring in revenue. Instead of paying someone else or having it cost me, the site can pay me. Good business I thought.

I searched hard through all the hype out there. Have you done that? It's insane - I avoid hype like the plague!

It's hard work getting it right. The learning curve was very steep for me. There is a lot of information to get through to make it work properly. I really thought initially that just any site would do, without understanding what it takes for internet success.

If you already have internet & site building skills, it certainly comes easier. Experienced people have achieved success faster that I am.

State of The Art Site Building Program was the essential first step. I feel confident now to share my site's achievements and recommend this program.

  • My site paid for itself (Google Ads) within a few months of SE optimization, linking, and keyword  strategies.
  • Daily average visitors - 250 & growing
  • Daily average pages - 600 & growing
  • Checks from Google
  • Income from Product & Ebook sales
  • Google page 1 rankings
  • First page local listings
  • Local Business Contacts  & Bookings

Yes linking to Active Rain has contributed to SE rankings, but there are many other important factors to consider and employ.

There Is More To Success Than Web Hosting Yes there are simple little build it websites. BUT! If you don't have effective web presence, you won't be found. Any Web host can provide space, bandwidth, and uptime, but can they help you build a successful business?

Perhaps you're simply interested in getting local attention and business. Over-delivering is a powerful way to do it.

I OWN AND HAVE CONTROL OVER MY WEBSITE. Do you own your website? or does your webmaster?

Deborah, I'm looking over your posts and give you a LOT of credit.  I leave the web stuff to my webmaster...and don't have the patience for it.  I didn't even know there were Spy sites...and not sure I want to.  I am thankful I have good rankings and hope to keep it that way :)

Deborah - Very informative post.  Thanks for sharing - one of these days I'm going to lock myself in my office learn as much as I can to benefit my website.  I'm taking baby steps.

Thanks Carole - at the outset, I really didn't think I could build a website, let alone be my own webmaster, but I did it!

Baby steps are really good Lynn! There are some great free web building ebooks links in the post, which I've benefitted from enormously - no hype, just step by step learning for linking, keywords and general internet strategies.

I set up my website with Go-daddy and have enjoyed doing so...after many hours of trial and error. But I can change and do whatever I want.

Wow Deborah - I am intrigued.  I looked at your site and you have a lot on there - are people finding your staging/decorating services in the midst of it all?  I'm just wondering if you are finding clients through your website in addition to the ads.  Are all the sales things you have (furniture, painting, etc.) links together stores that you then get a referral payment off of?  How much are you making off of the ads or sales on your site?  I'm just trying to figure out how it all works for you?   I researched and built my own site too but am struggling with the optimization and still have a lot to learn I know.  I also host with GoDaddy.  I would be interested in hearing more.  Thanks!

I understand the trial and error Mary Lou - there is so much to know about effective site building to get the ranking and attention!

Hello Lee-Ann. Most of my business leads come from my website; the services tabs are clear. It works both ways - really 2 businesses in 1.

While I have given current statistics, the site is in the early stages. There is a lot to know about seo, and even more about monetizing, among other strategies. The ads are online sellers, and yes I make varying percentages.

It must be understood that success on the internet takes time for a variety of reasons, and while I consider my site very successful for it's mere 10 month web presence, it is still in the early stages. The current (growing) traffic of 250 a day for example, is on its way to (planned) higher increases. There are sites that get more than 10 times that.

Site Build It! includes the complete detailed instruction and courses - everything necessary. As I say above there is far more to web success than mere hosting. Strategies are learnable with this premier program that understands and teaches how the internet works. Real People are doing it!

You might like some of the free courses and trials.

Link Popularity  helps with your seo.

I hope you find something helpful. Thanks for commenting!
