D'oh!Being an idiot saved me $250!

Most people who know me would say that I'm a pretty smart guy who's got things together (yes, I'm pretty good at pulling the wool over their eyes!).  I know where I'm going, I know what I'm doing.

I'm one of those people with a built in map.  I easily find my way in strange places, and am fairly good at figuring out my left from my right.

Last night, I attended a networking event at my local barbershop.  It's only a couple of blocks from my office, and I usually go during business hours, so I walk there.  Last night, being after hours, I parked in the municipal lot next to the building where the barber shop is located.

It was an enjoyable evening, I met several new people, and enjoyed some excellent chicken wings from RoosterSpin, a new local eatery specializing in Korean-style fried chicken.

When the evening was done, I headed back to the parking lot to my car and......NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

IT WAS GONE!!!!

I looked down at the empty spot, and saw, painted on the ground, a handicap logo.  UGH!!  It was a parking spot reserved for the disabled, and my car had obviosly been towed.  I looked around and saw the sign indicating that as well, and that it was a $250 fine for a first offense.

I went back into the barbershop and called the police department to find out where they tow the cars.  The officer took some information from me and asked me about the car.  He looked it up in the system, and informed me that there was no record of it having been towed.  OMG!!  That's even worse!!  That means it's been stolen!!

He told me that he'd send an officer over to meet me at the lot.  I thanked him and walked back to the parking lot to meet the police officer.  When I got there, I was looking around for him to arrive.  I looked a little further down in the parking lot and (:::: blush ::::) saw my car.

D'oh!!

I had parked it further down than I thought I had!!!  I felt like a complete idiot, especially when I called the police department back to explain what happened so they wouldn't send someone over.

But on the bright side, being an idiot saved me $250!!!!!

You most likely got home a lot earlier by finding it yourself.

Hate when that happens.

Oh, I am so glad other people do that kind of thing!  I thought it was just me!  I have a tendence to forget that I drove my husband's car to the store...and then panick when I can't find my car when I come out!
