Solitary Garry Oak in Vancouver Washington, 2015

Stand for Something or you will Fall for anything. Today's Mighty Oak was Yesterday's Nut that Held its ground. ~ Rosa Parks

Photographer's Notes:  The mighty Garry Oak (White Oak) was once a common feature of the Western Washington landscape as they could resist the relatively frequent fast-running grass fires that would eliminate their competition.

The Fog in the distance is actually from the Willamette River, and not from the closer and much larger Columbia River!

There is something so majestic about mature older Oak trees.  I love 'em.

Andrew - when I looked up quotes for Oak Trees, this one seemed to "stand out."

Linda - thanks for stopping by!

Myrl - yes, the older Oak trees have unique qualities to them, and I like they can seem even more impressive in the winter season with no leaves on them.
