Spring has finally sprung...

Monday I drove out of my garage and saw a gorgeous sight, my crocuses.  There are more than last year (I love how bulbs multiply) and the daffodils are beginning to emerge as well.  Spring has always been my favorite season, maybe because I am a spring baby or more so because I HATE winter.  I don't like to be cold (my brother in law teases me and says I would be cold if I was sitting on the sun).  With the exception of building a snowman with my kids, I spend most of the winter indoors, unless of course I go to Florida to escape this nasty weather.  I guess I'm not much of an advertisement for New England, or maybe I am in the majority who put up with winter to be able to enjoy the beautiful spring, summer and fall?  Yeah, that's it!

When I had my house built 5 years ago, I started gardening.  I had the basic builders landscaping and wanted so much more.  I pretty much started from scratch.  I kept a few of the bushes that the builder put in and then added.  Each year I add more perrenials and either extend my bed area or create a new one.  It is something that I am very proud of but it is also very therapudic.  I look forward to getting my hands dirty and a trip to the Nursery is tops on my list of things I love to do.  My husband, children and family members know that for Mother's Day all I want to do is work in the garden and get as much manual labor out of them as I can.  Forget going out to brunch or dinner, buy me a new tree and help me plant it.  My first Mother's Day here, I planted a crabapple tree in memory of my Nana.  We lost her just a couple of days after the foundation went in here and her last home was at Rockingham County Nursing Home, I can see it from my back yard.  The flowers are a fushia color (her favorite colors were green and fushia) and I added tulips around it this year.  I think she would be pleased with it.  When the tulpis bloom it is like she is smiling down from heaven on us.

This hobby really comes in handy during the busiest time of the year for real estate.  Through the craziness of showing property and doing CMA's, negotiating contracts and listing presentations, it is nice to take a few hours off and enjoy nature and remember the good things in life.  It rejuvenates me and makes me a better Realtor, advisor, friend and mother.

HAPPY SPRING!

P.S. These pics are from last spring!

Amie,I know how you feel. I absolutely adore Spring with the tulips, daffodils, crocus and all the new bulbs popping up and out like colorful popcorn. Who could remain negative with all the beauty that shows in Spring. It does help to rejuvenate us so that we can give more to our clients. I knew I liked you! Anyone who loves flowers, is pretty good in my book.

I'm sure that your Nana loves your celebration and remembrance of her life and what a great reminder of her when you look outside.

Gena - Thank you, it is 60 degrees right now and I am on my way out to start my spring clean up (I was supposed to have the day off but had a call to show one house).  I am hoping to get a good amount accomplished since rain is on the way.

Moni - Around Nana's tree is also outlined in the shape of a heart.

Mike - I sure will, the tulips around Nanas tree are so pretty, I'll take lots of pics!

Liz - Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog.  Yesterday it was supposed to rain all day and instead it was 65 degrees and sunny.  The rain did start in the later part of the afternoon but not before we were treated to a gorgeous rainbow.

Jay - Great how that worked out huh?  By Mother's Day, my yard will look much more respectable, you'll have to check it out then.  Thanks for all the help yesterday, my parents are lucky to have such good friends.

Amie, I love the pictures of Nana's tree. I can't wait for it to bloom this year. You do a wonderful job on your yard and Nana would be so proud of you. She loved the flowers but never had a place to plant in Melrose. It is nice that spring has finally made an appearance after our extra long winter.
