Mobile Friendly Website: Google is changing your ranking again!

There has  been a lot of discussion for the past couple of  years  about the importance of going Mobile Friendly with Real Estate and any other websites. Needless to say, I have researched it and ultimately made the pricey change over. There were some benefits immediately a new website look, but there were quite a few draw backs as well. Clients noticing that my Website does not have all the information like the old one did with all my listings etc. Needless to say it was frustrating trying to explain that this change was needed and now I am having growing pains.
 
 
Well the good news is I feel vindicated. I just heard that Google has officially announced that those websites that are not Mobile Friendly will be affected in their Google Rankings. This I find important, needless to say Google put a deadline on this for around the end of April, 2015. Endre - absolutely right.   The buzzword to ask a developer is if they do "responsive" web sites which means it adapts specifically to the device.

I too am in the process of updating my site to mobile friendly. With this and a couple of other improvements, a several thousand dollar investment.

To answer Bob's question about what it means, your site loads specifically for the mobile device it is being viewed by. Rather than showing an entire area you would view on your desktop web page, it knows to break the elements in the right size to be viewed on each specific device. I believe it even knows when to remove some content so one doesn't have to scroll a long way down a page when the display is more vertical than horizontal.

I believe this to be correct but am repeating from memory what my web guy told me. cheers cvc

Robert (Bob) Gilbert  Mobile friendly is that the website shrinks to the size of the mobile device and when it is on the laptop it fits to the laptop size....

Ron Marshall  no reason to give up, please  reach out to some of the Active Rain Gurus like Dick Greenberg  & Ron & Alexandra Seigel  if you get your main page done then you will be indexed and you can always do the other pages and you learn as you go along at no cost just knowledge an sweat equity...

I have used this company:   http://wdyim.com/   that set me up on a mobile website year ago and was very reasonably priced too.  Mine is also what is called a "responsive" web site which will modify to fit any device!  I was so happy to find Rick McQuade to help me get going on my own site..I had been checking all over for a reasonable web site and was disheartend to find people wanted thousands of $$$$ to get one set up.

I made some changes but have more to do.  I know my site is mobile friendly bit not yet certain if googlebot is fully able to crawl my site fully.  Testing this month.  Thanks for the great post.

I ran the test on one of my websites and then took a screen shot to my website letting them know they need to catch up since they are not currently as AWESOME as they used to be.
