Texas A&M seven-foot freshman center DeAndre Jordan will submit his name to the 2008 NBA draft but will not sign with an agent.  This allows him the option of returning to the Aggies next season.

"I just want to test the waters and get a good feel for where I might be drafted," Jordan said.

Jordan, 7-0, 255 pounds, averaged 7.9 points and led the Aggies in rebounding (6.0), blocked shots (44) and field goal percentage (.617).  I think this numbers are deceiving.  Our team was better when he was on the bench.  My husband was told by an A&M athletic counselor that Jordan had a bad attitude.  No one liked him and that isn't good for the team.  I hope he leaves and doesn't return!

But our team will really miss the leadership of our seniors, Joseph Jones and Dominique Kirk.  They combined for  263 starts during their career.  Jones is sixth in career rebounds with 843 and third in points scored at 1,679. Kirk is sixth in school history with 382 assists, and 10th in steals with 127.  What a great pair!  I wish them much success at the next level.

Hi Linda - I certainly cannot blame him.  I remember when I was in college in the 1990s and would think, "How could anyone pass up an opportunity to play in college?"  Having been in the working world for a decade now, I have a better understanding of why.  The answer was and is money.  My son is 3 years old.  If he were 19 and had the opportunity to make $3 million, be financially set for the rest of his life, and simply live off of the interest, I think that I would advise him to take the money.

Steven - I agree with you.  The money would be hard to resist and I'm sure he will get plenty.  His height alone makes NBA scouts excited.

I agree with your take 110% !  Jordan argued with his team mates and made beaucoup mistakes .   He  did not mature at all. I don't know why the pros would want him  Do we want him?   ;o)

Oh ...now Josh Carter has decided to test the  pro-waters  even though he is not using an agent... so he can still play for Aggies if he wants.

Josh Has decided to stay and play at A&M in 08-09 season .  We are happy...but guess no one wanted him bad enough for the pros.
