I have been a member here on Active Rain for a very short time, maybe a month.
I started out by building my profile. Then I saw Points!
I started reading and commenting. More Points!
Then I figured out what these points did.
Well, that was all she wrote. I had to get to number one Realtor in Eustis, Florida, not too hard. Then I had to be at least on the front page of Realtors in Lake County, Florida. I accomplished that by trying out a blog post or two.
Here is where the trouble started.
I liked blogging, blogging was GOOD and worth a lot of points!
In order to have better blogs, so people would read them, I started reading ALL the posts on how to blog, and make my blog colorful and full of pictures, interesting. I couldn't wait to get my kids to bed at night (bed time became earlier and earlier) all so I could find out how this wonderful machine works.
Now, I am not the most technologically advanced person, but when I set my mind to figuring something out I read everything I can get my hands on. There is a lot to read in Active Rain! I've bookmarked so many posts it would take me half a day to read them. And everyday, every minute there are more posts. Not just posts on blogging, but SEO, SOI, and many more initials that I don't even know what they mean.
And then there are posts on rants, good clients, bad clients, beautiful new places to live, staging, photographs, home inspections, the list goes on and on and on.
So I read. My comments become rarer and rarer because if I took time to comment I wasn't reading. Plus I don't want to comment just to say "good information," I assume the poster knows it was good information, otherwise why post it?
So now I have blogging on my mind. I see blog posts everywhere. I drive down the road thinking I need to eat at the Crazy Gator in Eustis again so I can get pictures for my blog. I need to go see the new play at the historical Bay Street Theatre. What golf course would be a good blog? Faith Lutheran School has a golf tournament April 19 at the Country Club of Mount Dora. I could spotlight my daughter's tennis coach, Steve Storey. Oh and then houses, I am a Realtor, I should spotlight houses. I should talk about our market and how interest in northeast Lake County, especially Mount Dora, Tavares and Eustis is on the rise.
So what is my problem? Why haven't I been blogging all these wonderful things and getting points? I have run out of time.
I have been so busy trying to figure out how to do it, I haven't done it. I have been struck blind by the magnificent posts with cool video, dancing figures, pretty colors and large font size! (Not to mention the unlimited amount of editing I need to do to all those freebie sites that are carrying my listings with misinformation and wrong contact information.)
So this post is the official start of my posts, where I will be blogging about all these wonderful things that are here in Eustis, Mount Dora, and the surrounding area. (Plus I have pictures of the Cherry Blossoms in Washington D.C. to show off.) The posts may not be pretty to start with, because after all the tutorials I still can't figure out how to change colors and make my font size bigger. I make this promise though, they will all contain at least one photo.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you more often!
JoEllen thanks for sharing. I loved reading your post. I can really relate. I have so many ideas written down on my blog idea list I will not have to think up a new idea for quite a while. But every day I find new ideas to blog. I love it!
