Should Activerain Require Non-Members To Offer Their Contact Information?

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Compass 0524642

This industry is all about providing your contact information. Every company from Realtor dot com to our personal websites has the ability and necessity to grab the consumers contact information. Contact information leads to a lead and leads lead to closings and closings lead to beer, wine and shoes. I like shoes. It's all about the leads.

But what about AR? Is Activerain giving away its content to easily? Should readers be allowed to see the first paragraph of a public post and then be prompted to provide their contact information if they want to continue reading? Should AR give this information to the author of the post or try and monetize the "opportunity" for themselves?

The volumes of information in the public posts on AR is over the top awesome.

What do you think?

Just like one's website, it's a matter of personal opinion.  I allow people to search my site without signing in while others wouldn't think of doing it that way.  Since we want to reach as many readers as possible, I would not want that barrier thrown up.

I think I'm with Maragaret here.  I know I don't like having to put in contact information on shopping websites or news websites.  If they ask, I'm out.

I'm fine with letting them read without registering.  No one should be able to comment without registering, though.

The "bounce" rate is higher when registration is forced. That being said, I force registration on my website.

I don't mind people being able to read without registering,  but I think comments should require contact info,  and if received should go to the agent who wrote the post.
