Green Brook is a township in Somerset County, NJ. Green Brook was incorporated as a township in 1932 and shares the Zip Code 08812 with Dunellen (a borough in Middlesex County, NJ).
The Green Brook School District serves students in Grades K - 8th. It includes one elementary school and one middle school. High School students attend the well known Watchung Hills Regional High School (which also serves students from Warren, Watchung and Long Hill Twp.).
Route 22 runs through the township and NJ Transit offers bus service on the 822 Route, plus major highways such as I 78 are just minutes away.
The development of those highways which connect New York and Pennsylvania contributed to the fact that Green Brook Township has developed from a quiet farming community, which it had been for nearly two hundred years, into the suburban community that it is today. In recent years the Real Estate offerings in Green Brook feature luxury new home developments. A notorious landmark of Green Brook is Washington State Park, which commemorates the spot where George Washington and Marquis De Lafayette watched the movement of the British soldiers during the Revolutionary war in 1777.
