We are approaching the final hours of Amplify Austin, 2015. Amplify Austin Day began March 5th at 6pm, lasting only 24hrs till March 6th at pm. Sponsored by I Live Here, I Give Here, the initiative sets out to raise $7 Million for 500 nonprofits.
Whatever your passion, today is a great day to give back to the charities and groups who are important to your world. A few years ago a close family friend introduced my wife and I to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin and Central Texas. Our friends were on the leadership team and held a place on the board of directors. Familiar with the name, we were unaware of the impact and generosity this organization provided for families going through an extremely difficult time in life. The RMHC house is across a parking lot from Dell Children's Hospital, where all rooms hosting parents and families face the hospital where their child is most likely staying for the time being.
Last week I had the opportunity to visit the new room being constructed by RMHC on the 8th floor of Seton Central. A hospital that can accommodate 50 NICU patients, but a lobby / waiting room smaller than most master bedrooms with 'vintage' furniture and dim lighting. The new room will have 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and community space for parents / family to escape but still be close to their child in a comfortable setting.
