Planning for the Week Ahead

Another week is about to begin and it always feels like there is less time in the day to do take care of things. And we lost an hour last night! Couldn't be much harder could it?

I'm happy to say that the end of last week rewarded me with new licensing and setup with the new company! It was overdue and long awaited, but its finally happened! Back to work I go and this time I'm hoping to continue my path of connections and two loans a month with my eyes on moving towards 3-4 a month. My new company is much better than the last one and provides some great tools to enhance my business and up my production.

Here are a couple tips for planning the week ahead to remain productive!

1. Task list items. If the task is there for two days or more, your making a mental note that its not that important and you probably don't need to do it right away.

2. Be realistic in terms of what your working towards accomplishing. Start small and work your way up. Limit your task list to 10 or less items. If you want to add more you need to accomplish more tasks. This keeps you focused and feeling accomplished throughout the day.

3. Take breaks every hour and half regardless of if you need it or not. The average attention span is about 50 to 60 minutes of actual work. If your going over, you slowly become less productive and can burn out fast. Take a break, go for a walk, call a client you enjoy working with, go try a new place for lunch. Make that break feel like you got away to focus on you!

4. Tackle the hardest things first! This makes a huge difference. If you have to make a bad call to a client do it! You wont have to fret about it or worry what the client will think. Hardest things accomplish first give you a big boost in confidence for the rest of the day. You can do it!

5. Make it fun! Work can be monotonous at times. Make it a game to keep things interesting. How many calls can I make in an hour? How many people can I talk to in an hour? How many new clients can I pick up today? If its fun you'll be more likely to complete the task while doing your job at the same time!

Have a great week guys! See you in the rain!

Good list Chris. I find that I am not as good at follow up as others are. I feel like I am bothering the potential client. But I have to remind myself; they contacted me. One time I told my business coach that I didn't want to bother past clients about refinancing because rates were lower. She told me she would think of it as a gift that I was offering. It helps to talk with other people tp help change our mindsets.

JoAnn - I couldn't agree more. I'm always looking for a new perspective on things from people I meet. If your willing to change you will and you'll learn from others along the way. Its that open mind that allows us to adapt our businesses to future needs and to stay relevant in the everchanging landscape of lending!
