"Take the Emotion OUT of It...." said the Broker/Manager

By
Real Estate Agent with EXP Realty 414-525-0563 57026-90 Broker

We knew a Broker/Manager who had the sales mantra.."Take the emotion out of the transaction...real estate is a business."

We have never ascribed to that practice.....

 * upside down house When you deal with short sales and have no compassion, you should not do them.

* If you can't relate to the sale of a childhood home, do not deal with estate salesHouse and Key

* If you can't understand how scary it is to consider writing a bigger check every month than you ever have....do not work with first time buyers.

apartment building* If you don't know how to figure out cash flow on in investment property for a beginning investor that considers all the factors in owning such a property...don't list it.

*While down sizing may make perfect sense for empty nesters....there is a lifetime of memoriehome sweet homes in that home...understand this is not a building but a cherished part of people's lives that they may find difficult to leave.

Good morning Sally and David,

Sound advice that some here should heed.

Make yourself a great day.

Interesting perspective Sally and David.  I agree with you from the viewpoint of compassion, caring and candor with regard to your clients.  However, I agree with the message to not be focused on results - more-so focus on behaviors that will achieve results.  Not sure if that's the same message the broker was portraying, though.

To ignore the human element ignores the positive results that one imparts to a buyer or seller Andrew Scherer....this person was a "business only" sort of person.

A wonderful reminder that buying and selling a home is much more than just a financial transaction. That being said, I also spend a lot of time keeping my clients from making totally emotional decisions that might come back to haunt them one day. But you can never take out the personal from real estate.

Good Morning Sally and David, We have met other Realtors who don't give a hoot about their clients, only the $$$ results. We are just the oppositie, it's not just business, but we enjoy helping others find what they are looking for!

I would be so hard to not empathize with our clients. I always feel their pain and that helps keep me on point and moving forward with their goals top of mind.

The  human element comes thru in your Blogs Larry and Sheila....you get what you give....focusing on just the $$$ is not what this biz should be about

Sally and David it does help to be able to identify with what our clients are experiencing, and as far as taking the emotion out of the transaction it is tough to do if you have blood running through your veins.

I was as hard core as one could get in  my former profession.  When I started in real estate I changed.  I'm glad I didn't work for that broker.

Hello Sally,

I agree with many of the sentiments expressed here; and for me it is a business of taking care of my clients as I would want to be taken care of...with professionalism, knowledge, understanding and compassion - knowing and delivering what they need.
