I am pleased to announce that we will be hosting an educational, nonprofit, fundraising event in the large auditorium of the Orinda Movie Theater on March 19th, 2015. The event will begin with an introduction by Bryan Kilgore, who is representing Habitat for Humanity, starting at 7 PM.
We will showcase the historical discoveries found in Orinda's "Old Yellow House," built in 1890. We have determined that this structure which now, houses self sustaining features from the past was originally part of the bankrupt California Nevada Railroad. In the newest renovation of the Old Yellow House, we have created a marriage of the old and the new, resulting in an awareness of the value that our history plays in our future eco-friendly world. We will show the step-by-step methods of our "sustainable" rebuilding processes, in which we completely dismantled and re-installed all original building elements, covering the deep-energy
“GeoSolar / Passive House" retrofit. The historic Old Yellow House is now naturally heated by the sun, and cooled by the earth, while retaining its original character.

James and the Old Yellow House Team
James is the owner of this project and it is a "net zero home" meaning it creates all the energy it uses from a combination of solar and geotechnical energy [underground]. It is truly amazing and we appreciate it that James used The Mike Young Team to work with on his project.
James was starting to tell me about how it functions when I took over and explained his invention to him... he was a bit perplexed but I had designed a very similar system thirty years ago. Don't get me wrong, this is totally James' design but mine was similar enough that I knew how it worked and he was surprised to say the least.
James is an architect and contractor, and overall a great guy. I hope you will come out and see the show on the 19th.
