Captain Obvious & the California Association of Real Estate!

The California Association of Real Estate (CAR) releases periodic infographics that are generally interesting and somewhat informative. But this one is a little obvious:

First Time Home Buyer Loans

Yes believe it or not first time buyers are confused by the lending process! Amazing, who would have thought. I suspect it is more than first time buyers. The only thing I find shocking is the numbers are so low. In fact I suspect most of these numbers apply to refi and move up buyers too. The only advantage those buyers might have over the first time buyer is that they have now been conditioned to the anal exam that is part of getting a loan. (Can I say Anal on ActiveRain?)

Yes and this year the Fed's will be “Simplifying” the paperwork for us so the confusion numbers are bound to go up.

So what does this mean to First Time Buyers and Buyers in General? Get a good lender. If you don't know one ask your REALTOR. We generally do not do loans, but once we understand your situation we can direct you to the best lender for you.

We certainly try to make a somewhat confusing process easy, but it's tough to pull off.  I've noticed the biggest issue I have with first time buyers is that I may explain everything, and ask "are there any questions?  Seriously, you can ask me anything, there are no dumb questions" and most times I get none.  The ones that ask questions tend to be the best informed.

Hello Gene,  Too funny.  So they are going to simplify to make it more difficult on us.  LOL   I do not even venture into the John Meussner world.  I straight away tell perspctive buyers that they will do themselves best by immediately speaking with a lending professional and let me help them with the best possible purchase of their home.  Difficult enough to keep up with one set of rules that seem to change every day.  Would not want the lending side where they seem to change every hour.  Kudos to them.  Mark

John Meussner Sometimes I don't even think they know what questions to ask.  It pays to be pro-active in educating them.

Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint I'm with you .  Good lending partners are very important in this business.
