Spring is in full swing and marks the beginning of the fair and festival season in the New Orleans area. Check out some of the events on tap for this weekend:
Gretna Farmer's Market
Saturday, 8:30 am - 12: 30 pm at the Gretna Market. Huey P. Long Avenue, between 3rd and 4th Streets. Fresh, locally grown produce plus crafts, music and more. While you are at the Market, be sure to check out Child Safety Day between 9 am and 1 pm, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club.
West Bank Theatre
Ruthless! The Musical, a musical comedy, runs through April 27th with shows every Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm. Visit Jefferson Performing Arts Society for tickets and more information
French Quarter Festival
Of course, no matter how great the West Bank is, what event could possibly compete with the 25th Annual French Quarter Festival, happening this Thursday through Sunday throughout the French Quarter and along the river in Woldenburg Park. Music, food, crafts...all of the things that make living in the great city of New Orleans so wonderful! I remember when this was just a small, local festival and look at how it has grown over the years! If you park in Algiers Point and take the ferry, you will be within walking distance of all of the festivities!
Upcoming Events:
Tuesday, April 16th - The Friends of JoEllen Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund is holding the annual fashion show and luncheon at Mardi Gras World in Algiers. Doors open at 10:30 am and lunch is served at noon. Proceeds are dedicated to providing scholarships for students majoring in health care fields.
Make it a great West Bank weekend!
