It Only Takes One to Show Up

First Daffoldil

March 12, 2015

While preparing to turn in for the evening last night before shutting the last set of blinds I noticed something in my Flower Mound garden that caught my eye. Lo and behold there she was, my first daffodil for the season!

We are taught to start each day anew with a deep sense of wonder and awe; however, last night I slept with a deeper sense of purpose. Could it be because at the end of the day I met the darkness of the night without any preconceived notions or demands, with lower expectations and high hopes for tomorrow?

A garden is where creation begins. Last night was proof, just one plant can bring victory causing joy, hope and happiness! Just showing up makes all the difference in attitude, hope, and man's ability to believe that every creature here on earth was designed to grow to make a difference in someone's life. Man, plant, and animal creates a presence and an awareness. Nothing shall be taken for granted. The daffodil is a gentle reminder, a gift from the garden, an invitation to go forward knowing that victory comes with time, courage and patience.

Have a wonderful day!!!

Patricia, daffodils are definitely Springs cheerful messengers!  Thank you for sharing this first beautiful bloom and may there be more to pop up in the days ahead!

Patrica we have daffodils planted in my front yard.  With the much warmer weather this week much of the snow has melted and I can see the daffodils starting to come up.  No flowers yet, but that should happen fairly soon, and when it does it will certainly have a very positive affect on my attitude :)

I love when those daffodils and crocus start peeking out from the ground - sometimes there is still snow present but the flowers know that the days are longer and the sun is shining!

Patricia - I guess that is part of what makes Spring so special. All the new growth and colors, like the earth is starting anew.

"A gift from the garden."  What a neat way of thinking about it.  Daffodils have been blooming for a couple of weeks now in my yard and neighborhood.  I always love when they arrive.  They are among the first harbingers of spring.

Patricia, I think the new blooms are what makes spring so enjoyable - not to mention being able to go outdoors without a full length down coat!  Saw my first crocus in bloom last week.    Yea Spring!

I am looking for those daffodils and crocuses all over Westchester County but unfortunately, they are going to covered yet again with a blanket of snow.  Time to wake up and peek out from under.

Your thoughtful post and photo brought back fond memories of spring in New England and the first flowers, usually the daffodil or a crocus peeping through the snow. I still enjoy them although we rarely seem then growing locally here in SoCal but must buy them

Jeff

The Spring flowers are always symbols of hope to me. They are reminders of our ability to be dormant and then bloom with new life and experiences. Thanks for sharing, Patricia.
