Sometimes You Don’t Need a Ladder to See You Have Dry Rotted Fascia Boards

A woman had called wanting a dry rot expert to come look at her home for dry rot damage in her North Sacramento Home. Since this is what we do, repair dry rot in Sacramento, I returned her call for more information. We schedule something right away for me to come give her a free estimate.

Dry rot damage is not all that uncommon in the Sacramento Region, the severity will vary depending on the regular maintenance of the home. Knowing where to look for the common areas of rotting wood helps but sometimes it can be obvious, even without a ladder. This call was a good example.

While it does take some time to get a thorough look at all the problem areas, the more severely damaged wood may be easily seen. The fascia board at this home did not require a ladder to go see, the wood was rotted! The remaining areas needed a closer look but we know she had a problem with wood rot at this North Sacramento Home.

Need an estimate of cost to repair the dry rotted wood on your home in Sacramento? Let us take a look and see what we can do to help.

Tom - at least she called you but if that was the tip of the iceberg how much rot did you find?

Uhh, this one is so obvious I hope anyone would recognize the problem. But having an expert is really important in most cases. Thanks for your post, Tom!

Yep, Tom, I'd call that a problem. I have a feeling the diagnosis was short.

Tom - I would say that when the wood on the fascia board has actually disappeared there is a good chance dry rot has occurred. Certainly no need for a ladder to notice this.

Tom, I'm no expert on dry rot but over the years of watching inspectors I know what to look for.
