Greater New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade 2015

New Haven St. Patricks Day Parade 2015The Greater New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade is the largest single-day spectator event held in the State of Connecticut.  Hundreds of thousands of people line the streets of New Haven to watch the parade.

The tradition of the Greater New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade was born on March 17, 1842 when a mutual aid organization formed the previous year of about 90 members of the Hibernian Provident Society marched through the streets of New Haven behind a banner made just for the occasion.

The Greater New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade since the mid 1950's has become one of the most significant Irish events in New England and is the 6th oldest parade in the nation.  In 1999 it's prominence was recognized by the Library of Congress and selected as an outstanding example of American folk life.
