I was reading an interesting article in the Realtor magazine about new home design trends that are coming in and what seems to be going out. They are really sort of neat if you think about it. I can't wait to implement some of these ideas into my new home in the near future:
*Outdoor Living Space - It's becoming more common to find outdoor kitchens, patio heating systems and outdoor fireplaces for extended outdoor enjoyment
*Very custom appliances - Kitchens that are so custom that appliances blend into the cabinetry are totally in. Ever been to a house and wondered where is the fridge?
*Animal showers - Animals get dirty too, why not have a place of their own for a shower now and then? Makes it much easier than getting in the car and driving someone to get clean and I'd rather not let my huge yellow lab Polo bathe in my jacuzzi! Pet showers are starting to be found in garages or mudrooms so it is convenient.
*Party sized bathrooms! - It's not uncommon to see bathroom suites large enough for the entire family and featuring amenities such as flat screen TVs, mini bars or mini fridges. Face it, sometimes a bath can be boring without some good TV to keep you entertained.
*Home Elevators - I don't see this around Massachusetts in the near future, but in some parts of the country it is common for builders to be putting in elevators in mini estates where buyers are looking to settle down for life.
I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to spending summers by the pool grilling and having a blast without ever having to run inside, cozying up by the fireplace underneath the moon and watching a few of my favorite sitcoms in a tub full of suds!
