Not everyone wants a Sun-day every day!
Now, you might have taken this differently, but I am actually talking about those people who don't want to live in "sun" every single day of their lives. And that's why they call me from Arizona and California (Florida, too) to seek out "seasons", rainy days actually are on their wishlist! I often get asked, "Does it snow?"
Well, being about 600 feet above sea level in the coastal range of Oregon, we are about 6-12 degrees cooler than Portland and so we often get snow when parts of Portland and the surrounding area aren't.
This year it was mild all winter long. No snow, just rain. When others on the east coast were truly suffering in the winter of 2014-2015, we really had it good. Foggy, misty, romantic, but no white stuff!
It's true that the summers have gotten warmer, with the global warming. BUT....there is little humidity and even when the summer days hit 90+ degrees, it's RARE that there is a need for air-conditioning! Just open the doors and let the slight breeze clear out the heat of a late afternoon. Or go jump in the lake! Sweltering--hardly!
This is why people who want to leave the deadly heat of Arizona summer months or southern California just doesn't offer enough seasonal changes, they want to buy at Fishhawk Lake!
The greenery, the woods, the lake waters are all a heavenly departure from 102 degree summers. It's a lovely respite from browns, to see all kinds of greenery. The trees are immense here!
